Wednesday June 7
4:00am BST: Harrowing footage has emerged of Kim Jong-un in high spirits as he cheers on his military fighter jets practicing destroying enemy aircraft carriers. The clip released by the state’s run KRT television network shows the North Korean despot laughing with his closest military officials and enjoying the nation’s annual air combat contest. The show encompassed a variety of destructive combat training and war games, which created huge explosions across an air field.Tuesday June 65:30am BST: North Korea has sparked fears of a global conflict by holding a mock attack on aircraft carriers.
This practice battle comes as tension continues to rise in the region amid an ever-tightening spiral of threat and counter threat.
Monday June 5
6pm BST: Japan has held evacuation drills in preparation for a possible North Korean attack.
Around 300 people in the coastal town of Abu took part in the drill with further evacuations scheduled for other towns.
5pm BST: US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called on China to do more on the issue of North Korea, which has stepped up its nuclear and missile programmes in defiance of US pressure and UN resolutions.
"China and other regional partners should also step up their efforts to help solve this security situation, which threatens not just that region, but really presents a threat to the entire world," Mr Tillerson told reporters.
"We desire productive relationships, but we cannot allow China to use its economic power to buy its way out of other problems, whether it's militarising islands in the South China Sea or failing to put appropriate pressure on North Korea."
7.45am BST: North Korea has accused the Trump administration of “bluffing” after the US successfully tested a new anti-missile defence system.
A spokesman for Kim Jong-un’s state mouthpiece KCNA said:“Their foolhardy moves go to clearly prove that the DPRK's step for bolstering the nuclear force for self-defence is entirely just.
“They are now bluffing, bragging about the 'success' in the test and the efficiency of the missile interception system.
“But the DPRK considers it just a foolish act of those driven to despair.
“They are sadly mistaken if they think such missile interception system can prevent the shower of nuclear strike by the Strategic Force of the Korean People’s Army.
“The last-ditch gambling of the Trump administration for a nuclear war will only bring earlier the day when the US mainland will turn into ashes.”
Sunday June 4
4.20pm BST: Russia has denounced North Korea’s nuclear missile programme as “direct threat” to the country.
"It is not only a ballistic missile defence system - it has real function," said Deputy Defence Minister Alexander Fomin.
"That is why it is alarming. And it is a direct threat to Russia. We are convinced that it will increase the tensions of the region. That is our principle position."
Mr Fomin also suggested economic restrictions should be used to invoke diplomatic and peaceful results from Pyongyang.
3pm BST: North Korea’s state owned Rodong Sinmun newspaper has declared that the regime was "ready to conduct an ICBM test-fire at any time."
The editorial’s threats come after the US successfully intercepted and destroyed an intercontinental ballistic missile in a test on Tuesday.
Pyongyang’s ninth missile test this year forced the US to ramp up its defence measures.
12.20pm BST: North Korea has fully rejected the latest sanctions from the United Nations and has vowed to continue the development of its nuclear weapons programme.
North Korea’s Foreign Ministry conformed the regime’s unflinching commitment to defending itself against “acts of hostility”.
"Whatever sanctions and pressure may follow, we will not flinch from the road to build up nuclear forces which was chosen to defend the sovereignty of the country and the rights to national existence and will move forward towards the final victory," a spokesman said.
North Korea has rejected all UN sanctions dating back to  2006.
